History

MetroStudios officially began in 1975 in North Hollywood under the d.b.a. names Stronghold Sound and Thomas Studios. From among the initial projects undertaken emerged the studios' first Platinum album, "The Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright.

The operation of the studio was shared among: "Al" Tom Thomas, the late Greg Ladanyi, Val Garay, Jim Niper, Jay Lewis, and Tony Gottlieb. Their combined works include countless Gold and Platinum credits, Grammy nominations, endorsements, advisory positions, educational interviews and notable industry articles. They have all shown themselves to be the best of the best in the industry.

With the 1990's and the digital revolution approaching, a plan was set in motion: to lean the opulence, redefine relationships and associations, and create a studio more appropriate for the recording budgets of a changing industry.

In 1991, MetroStudios relocated to the north San Fernando Valley, with the ability to accommodate modern recording budgets while retaining the equipment and design concepts compatible with its enduring reputation. Since then, the studio has moved to a primarily ProTools environment, in addition to full 2 inch analog capability.

Currently, Tom Thomas is head of production and artist development.
